Blue Shield UK Symposium 2025

two arms exchanging a coin and a lightbulb
Last year Blue Shield celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention together with colleagues around the world, marking the huge achievements that have been made in the protection of Cultural Property in conflict and disaster. Now it is time to look forward. In light of recent events and the ongoing concerns surrounding natural disasters, conflict and political instability, we're seeing a rapidly changing landscape of threats to heritage, both tangible and intangible.

In light of this, Blue Shield UK will bring together heritage professionals, government, armed forces and law enforcement to discuss the future of cultural property protection (CPP) in the UK.
Date and time: Thu, 12 Jun 2025 09:00 - 18:30 BST
The Symposium will include roundtables and workshops focusing on cross-sector challenges, communication strategies and the changing political landscape, with emphasis on balancing the risks and rewards of information sharing and security.

The event will conclude with a plenary session, followed by a drinks reception and discussion of the book 'Heritage at War: Plan and Prepare' by Blue Shield member Lisa Mol, Major Mark Dunkley, and Anna Tulliach (published by White Horse Press), with an optional 3D heritage conflict immersive experience earlier in the day during the scheduled lunch break.
