 On 12 June, Blue Shield UK was excited to bring together heritage professionals, government, armed forces and law enforcement to discuss the future of cultural property protection (CPP) in the UK with our fantastic partner, the University of West England (UWE) Bristol. Attended by over 60 people, all invested in the protected of UK cultural property in crisis, the Symposium included talks from leaders in the sector, as well as workshops, focusing on cross-sector challenges, communication strategies and the changing political landscape.
The attendees were also invited to experience UWE’s 3D Immersive facility (IGLOO CAVE) where photogrammetry data is projected onto three walls and the floor to allow user to experience the structures up close. Using 3D glasses, the users can look around the structure and navigate through. This is particularly useful when either assessing conflict damage, or preparing site security and safety plans for areas that are difficult to access. Symposium attendees were invited to explore the facilities and experience field sites UWE researchers have worked on in collaboration with overseas partners. Attendees were buzzing:
