National Heritage Institutions

ICOMOS UK logo
ICOMOS-UK is the UK National Committee of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites). ICOMOS-UK promotes appreciation and understanding of our cultural heritage in the UK and worldwide. The focus is on policy and practice, information and opportunities.

ICOM UK logo
ICOM UK is the national branch of ICOM in the United Kingdom. It is a gateway to the global museum community and the only UK museum association with a dedicated international focus. It is an organisation which promotes intangible heritage and the preservation of material heritage. It develops best practice standards for the worldwide museum industry and, through its global reach and events programme, contributes to the international agenda of museums in the UK.
ARA logo
The Archives & Records Association is the leading professional body for the record-keeping sector. We welcome all with an interest in archives, records management and conserving records to join us and drive the sector forward. The ARA was created to ensure that archives and records were properly looked after and preserved for posterity and that all those working hard on this task received the proper training and support to do so. We work to provide the broadest and most coherent voice on all matters relating to the record-keeping sector and aim to broaden the care, management, access and use of records and archives by everyone. We embrace all those working in archives, records management, archive conservation, archive learning, research and outreach as well as anyone in the wider community with an interest in records and archives including users, owners and volunteers.

CILIP Logo
CILIP is the leading UK library and information association. It received its Royal Charter as the Library Association in 1898. CILIP exists to unite, support and empower information professionals in all sectors. Membership is open to everyone who has a professional connection to libraries, information, knowledge and data, and shares a belief in their power to change lives.

Its mission is to put library and information skills and professional values at the heart of an equal, democratic and prosperous society. It works across the UK, including with Scottish affiliated body CILIPS, CILIP Cymru Wales, and CILIP Ireland, and with a number of special interest groups, and regional and diversity networks.

CILIP supports policy and advocacy work to secure positive outcomes for the profession, providing training and advice and developing best practice, and collaborating with other organisations. CILIP’s ethics, skills and knowledge are crucial to establishing and maintaining trust in members as ethical information professionals.
